Fun Facts ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What is Concurrent Enrollment? “Concurrent enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take college-credit bearing courses taught by college-approved high school teachers. It is a low-cost, scalable model for bringing accelerated courses to students in urban, suburban, and rural high schools. Students gain exposure to the academic challenges of college while in their supportive high school environment, earning transcripted college credit at the time they successfully pass the course." Academic Year and Courses You may be assigned reading and writing which may not be directly addressed in your courses. Remember, YOU are responsible for all assigned material, whether covered in courses or not. For college / concurrent courses specifically, you must learn to manage your own time. You must balance your responsibilities and set priorities. You are responsible for keeping up with your course work and knowing what it takes to graduate. You are expected to take responsibility for what you do and don't do, as well as the consequences. We have articulation agreements with regional universities who retroactively assign credit for high school coursework upon matriculation. We greatly value our concurrent enrollment partnerships with regional universities. Our concurrent courses are accredited by Southern Utah University (SUU) and Dixie State University (DSU). Keep in mind that applications for SUU and DSU must be completed and mailed by all prospective students. The ACT Exam The ACT Exam is not needed to register in our online high school courses. The ACT Exam is not needed to take our college courses accredited by Dixie State University. However, before a college course at Southern Utah University can be taken, students must take the ACT Exam. Keep in mind that our college courses are largely accredited by DSU. The ACT Exam measures high school students' general educational development and their capability to complete college-level work with the multiple choice tests covering four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. Essentially, ACT scores provide an indicator of a student's college readiness. The optional Writing Test measures skill in planning and writing a short essay. The Utah State Office Education mandates the ACT Exam be taken by high school juniors on March 4, 2014. All high schools in Utah will administer the exam on March 4.
