Accreditation and Concurrent Courses

Grades 9 through 12 high school courses are accredited by the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) and the Utah Office of Advanced Education (UOAE).

Concurrent enrollment (accelerated) courses provides high school students the opportunity to take college-credit bearing courses taught by college-approved high school teachers. Essentially, Early College High School Online brings accelerated courses to students in urban, suburban, and rural high schools. Students gain exposure to the academic challenges of college while in their supportive high school environment, earning college credit which simultaneously counts towards high school credit as well. For this reason, concurrent courses are sometimes called dual credit and dual enrollment. Our program allows students to take courses from a college instructor via distance education. Be aware that all students need one class at a boundary school in order to sign up for concurrent courses.

We have articulation agreements with regional universities who retroactively assign credit for high school coursework upon matriculation. We greatly value our concurrent enrollment partnerships with regional universities. Our concurrent courses are accredited by Southern Utah University (SUU) and Dixie State University (DSU).

Monitoring Student Progress

The Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
Early College High School Online gives parents the opportunity to monitor their student's progress in all courses through our own Canvas Learning Management System. The Canvas LMS is easy to navigate and provides an informative way for parents to check progress. We also instruct all courses and manage all student progress on Canvas LMS. Canvas LMS provides parents with complete information on,

*Assignments
*Exams
*Important Dates
*Grades
*Assessments

Please note that Dixie State University and Southern Utah University also use their own Canvas LMS. However, all concurrent courses will be instructed on our Canvas LMS through agreement with DSU and SUU.

We recognize the important role parents play in supporting their student's education and our LMS will help you do that more efficiently now from any
computer, any time! Check your student’s progress by clicking on the Canvas Tab above, then enter your username and password. If you experience problems with your login or password please call 1-435-868-8057 or email us at earlycollege@utahechs.org.

Student Records

State of Utah Student Information System (SIS)
In addition to reporting student progress in our Canvas LMS, student records are managed and accessible online through the Utah State Student Information System (SIS). This state system provides information for parents, as well as, students, teachers and advisors. Check your student’s records by clicking Student Information System, then enter your username and password. Username and password will be attained after filling out the Course Credit Acknowledgement and Transcript Request forms. These forms can be found on the New Student page by clicking the New Student tab at the top of the page.
